Jakarta Golf Trip Checklist: What to Sort Before You Fly

This Jakarta golf trip checklist covers everything to sort before you fly, from your visa and arrival card to dress codes, clubs and caddie customs. Work through it a few weeks out and again the night before departure, and nothing on the first tee should catch you out.

Zora Golf Travel, founded in Jakarta in 2024 by golfers with 250+ combined rounds, has built the list from the questions visiting golfers ask most. Each step is backed by an official or published source, cited at the foot of the page.

Documents and Entry

Entry is the one part of the trip that cannot be fixed on the day. Sort it first.

Visa by Passport

  • Singapore and Malaysia: ASEAN visa exemption for up to 30 days, not extendable [1]
  • Australia: Visa on Arrival or e-VOA (B1 tourist), 30 days, extendable once by 30 days; apply online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id [2]
  • Other passports: check current rules with Indonesian immigration before you travel

The All Indonesia Arrival Card

The All Indonesia arrival card has been mandatory at Soekarno–Hatta since 1 September 2025 [5]. It is one free digital form covering immigration, customs, health and quarantine, submitted at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the All Indonesia app. Every traveller needs their own, including children [6].

Insurance and Documents

Arrange travel insurance that covers your golf equipment as well as you. Keep digital copies of your passport, visa, flights and tee-time confirmations on your phone.

Flights and Getting From the Airport

Every overseas golfer lands at Soekarno–Hatta Airport (CGK). Halim airport has international status but no scheduled international passenger flights [3].

Flight Times to Jakarta

  • Singapore: direct flights of about 1 h 45 to 2 h [11]
  • Kuala Lumpur: direct flights of about 2 h to 2 h 30 [12]
  • Perth: Batik Air direct, about 4 h 25 [13]
  • Sydney and Melbourne: Qantas and Garuda, about 7 h and 6 h 20 [13]

About Zora

What should I pack for a golf trip to Jakarta?

Pack collared golf shirts, tailored shorts or trousers, golf shoes with soft spikes, a hat, sunscreen and plenty of balls. Add a light rain jacket, an umbrella and spare gloves if you travel between October and April. Leave denim and sleeveless tops at home, as higher-end clubs may refuse them.

Dress expectations are set by each club [4]. Royale Jakarta asks for proper golf attire and soft spikes [14].

Golf Bag and Clothing

Jakarta is hot all year, with an average high of about 32.5 °C [15]. Pack light, breathable kit that still meets club dress codes.

Clubs: Bring or Rent

Club and shoe rental is listed at Pondok Indah, and clubs can be hired at Imperial Klub Golf [16][17]. Rental is not published for every club, so confirm it when you book. The guide to golf club rental in Jakarta helps you decide.

Packing List

  • Collared shirts, one for each round plus a spare
  • Tailored golf shorts or trousers
  • Golf shoes with soft spikes; metal spikes are not allowed at Imperial Klub Golf [17]
  • Hat, sunglasses and high-factor sunscreen
  • Light rain jacket and umbrella for the rainy season, about October to April [18]
  • Spare gloves and towels for the humidity
  • Plenty of balls, tees and a pitch-mark repairer

Booking Tee Times

Visitor tee times are easy to secure if you plan ahead. A few booking rules are worth knowing before you choose courses.

Booking Rules to Check

  • Book only through official club channels or a trusted operator; Royale Jakarta carries a scam alert on its homepage [14]
  • Royale Jakarta and Suvarna Jakarta allow up to 4 players per flight [14][19]
  • Sedayu Indo Golf pairs singles and twosomes, and keeps 9-hole rounds for Indonesian citizens and KITAS holders [19]
  • Pondok Indah charges for cancellations from two days before the round [19]

Timing Your Rounds

Golf in Jakarta is played early in the morning because of the heat, and a round takes about 4 to 5 hours [20][9]. The guide to the best time to play golf in Jakarta covers the seasons. Zora holds authorised tee-time access at Royale Jakarta, Damai Indah (PIK and BSD) and Jagorawi.

On the Course

Jakarta golf has its own customs, starting with the caddie. Knowing them before the first tee keeps the day relaxed.

Caddies and Tipping

A caddie is mandatory at most Jakarta courses [9], and the club provides the caddie even when Zora books the round, with the caddie fee paid directly to the caddie rather than included in the green fee. Tipping after the round is customary on top of the caddie fee, and the Caddie Master can tell you what is usual [10]. The guide to Jakarta golf caddies explains what to expect.

Spending Money

Allow for the caddie fee and tip, food and drinks at the club and any rental you need. The guide to the cost to play golf in Jakarta explains what a visitor rate already includes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a visa for a golf trip to Jakarta?

It depends on your passport, as Singapore and Malaysia passport holders enter visa-free under the ASEAN exemption for up to 30 days. Australians need a Visa on Arrival or an e-VOA, valid for 30 days and extendable once. Every traveller must also submit the free All Indonesia arrival card.

Other nationalities should check the current rules with Indonesian immigration before booking.

When should I submit the All Indonesia arrival card?

Submit the All Indonesia arrival card up to 3 days before you arrive, or on landing at Soekarno–Hatta Airport. It is free and covers immigration, customs, health and quarantine in one digital form. Each traveller, including children, needs a separate submission, made online or in the All Indonesia app.

Submitting before you fly saves time in the arrivals hall.

Should I bring my own golf clubs to Jakarta?

Bring your own clubs if you plan several rounds and want familiar equipment. Rental is an option at some clubs, with club and shoe rental listed at Pondok Indah and clubs available for hire at Imperial Klub Golf. Rental is not published for every course, so confirm it when you book each tee time.

Check your airline's sports equipment rules before you pack a golf bag.

How far ahead should I book Jakarta tee times?

Book weekend tee times in Jakarta several days ahead at the very least, and earlier for a group or a sought-after course. The simplest approach is to book tee times at the same time as flights and hotels, so each round fits your arrival, departure and the traffic between them.

The Jakarta golf packages bundle tee times, hotel, transfers and a personal guide in one booking.
