Golf in Bandung: Courses, Travel From Jakarta and Cooler Rounds

Golf in Bandung is the cooler alternative to a Jakarta round: the city sits at about 700–770 m, with a mean daily high of 28.9 °C against Jakarta's 32.5 °C [1]. Since October 2023, the Whoosh high-speed train has linked Jakarta and Bandung in well under an hour [2].

The three courses most visitors play are Parahyangan Golf, Dago Heritage 1917 Golf Course and Mountain View Golf Club. Zora Golf Travel, founded in Jakarta in 2024 by golfers with 250+ combined rounds, plans Bandung golf trips with a personal guide and transfers, with every green fee quoted POA (price on application).

How to Get From Jakarta to Bandung for Golf

Bandung is about 145 km south-east of Jakarta by road [2]. Golfers can drive the Cipularang toll road, take the Whoosh high-speed train, or ride the conventional Argo Parahyangan service.

Option Typical time Best for
Private car via the Cipularang toll road About 3 hours realistically; longer at weekends Groups with golf bags; door-to-door transfers
Whoosh high-speed rail, Halim to Tegalluar About 35–47 minutes The fastest city-to-city option
Whoosh to Padalarang, then feeder train to Bandung Whoosh journey plus a short feeder connection Reaching central Bandung by rail
Argo Parahyangan conventional train About 2 hours 40 minutes to 3 hours A direct rail option without a change of train

Driving the Cipularang Toll Road

The Cipularang toll road, opened in 2005, carries most Jakarta–Bandung traffic [2]. Allow about three hours for the drive, and more at weekends [2]. Parahyangan Golf is reached via the Padalarang exit, on the Jakarta side of Bandung [3].

Taking the Whoosh Train

Whoosh, Indonesia's high-speed railway, opened in October 2023 and stops at Halim (Jakarta), Karawang, Padalarang and Tegalluar [2]. The Halim–Tegalluar run takes about 35–47 minutes, and a feeder train connects Padalarang with central Bandung [2]. Zora's guide can meet you at the station and arrange a car for your clubs.

Bandung's Climate Compared With Jakarta

Bandung's altitude is the main reason golfers make the trip. The city is about 3.6 °C cooler than Jakarta by day and about 5.6 °C cooler at night [1].

Measure Jakarta Bandung
Elevation Near sea level About 700–770 m
Mean daily high 32.5 °C 28.9 °C
Mean daily low 25.5 °C 19.9 °C
Rainfall Wet season December to March About 2,316 mm a year; driest month August

Higher Still at Dago

Dago Heritage 1917 sits at about 950–1,065 m, well above the city centre, so it is cooler again [3]. Expect fresh mornings that suit an early start. Pack a light layer for the first few holes.

When to Go

August is Bandung's driest month, which makes the middle of the year the most reliable for golf [1]. Indonesia's weather agency, BMKG, put the peak of the 2025/26 rainy season at November 2025 to February 2026 [4]. Morning tee times are the safest choice in the wetter months.

Parahyangan Golf

Parahyangan Golf is a 7,298-yard Bob Moore design that runs along ravines and the edge of Saguling Lake, crossing seven bridges [3][5]. It won Best New Golf Course in Asia in 2020 and was named Indonesia's Best Golf Course at the World Golf Awards in 2020 and 2023 [5][6]. There is no driving range, so plan your warm-up before you arrive.

Dago Heritage 1917 Golf Course

Dago Heritage 1917 opened as a 9-hole course in 1917 and became 18 holes in 1994, with a layout by Chohei Miyazawa [3]. Golfasian calls it one of Indonesia's hilliest courses, with pines, narrow fairways and views over the city [3]. The 161-room Swiss-Belresort Dago Heritage sits inside the complex [7].

Mountain View Golf Club

Mountain View Golf Club in Dago Pakar is a Peter Thomson and Ross Perrett design about 20 minutes from central Bandung [3]. It is 5,583 m and par 72, with views over the mountains and the city [3]. Its north Bandung location makes it an easy pairing with Dago Heritage.

How Many Days to Spend Golfing in Bandung

Two Nights for Two Courses

The Jakarta–Bandung transfer takes either about three hours by car or under an hour on Whoosh plus connections [2]. Two nights in Bandung gives you two rounds without rushing, for example Dago Heritage and Mountain View, which are both in north Bandung [3]. Play Parahyangan on the way in or out, since it sits at the Padalarang end of the trip [3].

Three Nights for All Three

Three nights lets you play Parahyangan, Dago Heritage and Mountain View with a rest afternoon. The Jakarta to Bandung golf tour combines Jakarta rounds with Bandung's cooler courses in one guided trip. For the Jakarta side of the trip, see the guide to golf courses in Jakarta.

Booking Windows

Parahyangan, as a resort course, takes reservations up to 14 days ahead [8]. Zora plans the full itinerary well before that window and confirms the tee time as soon as it opens. Green fees are quoted POA for your dates.
